Changelog

BonziWORLD.org has had a changelog before, though it was inconsistent. This changelog serves to fix that. It will include details on how to understand it, and be ordered from newest to oldest updates. The underlined version is the most recent addition.

Version Numbering (how to understand)

Post-7.0.0

Versions at and after 7.x.x will be numbered as major.minor.patch, where "patch" is a code patch, "minor" is a small update adding a limited amount of small features/enhancements, and "major" is a huge update completely changing BonziWORLD and how it works. Patch resets on a minor update, minor and patch both reset on a major update (e.g. 6.9.15->7.0.0). If a minor update contains patches, the patch number will be increased (e.g. 7.1.0->7.2.1).

A letter after the number (e.g. 7.3.1A) is a misc tag, used for demos, unfinished versions, or others.

Pre-7.0.0

Versions before 7.0.0 are numbered as 6.9.update, where "update" means enough features being added since the last version to move it up. It was arbitrary and inconsistent. No long lived changelogs exist.

Version 7 (CURRENT)

• 7.5.1 - Added VPN locking, under-13 mode (blocks images, crosscolors, videos and swear words) and ban reasons.

• 7.4.0 - Added icons to markleft, updated window UI, added green theme, added stats, allowed lower kings to use silent mute.

• 7.3.3 - Fixed color XSS bug, pro fontawesome icons

• 7.3.2 - Improved XP Theme, Marquee fixed, lower/higher kings added, 3 new kings, more peedy/clippy animations

• 7.3.2A - Flood patch, TTS anti-crash, admin feature patch.
• 7.3.1A - New anti-spam, better anti-skiddie security, many new moderation tools, smooth polls with yes/no text, peedy/clippy profile pictures in the log, invisible video patch, join/leave messages in the BonziLOG

• 7.2.10 - Fixed Discord message log and antispam
• 7.2.9 - Fixed crosscolor blacklist bypass
• 7.2.8 - Security updates, joining slowmode added

• 7.2.2 - One of the many TTS glitches patched.
• 7.2.1 - Minor patches. Colors were converted to WEBP but their quality worsened from compression so this change was reverted.
• 7.2.0 - Added themes, introduced a limit to announcements, and updated /settings.
• 7.1.1 - ENHANCEMENT - Lag fixed, easel.js used instead of Fune's own library. PATCH - Fixed CSS injection via markup, fixed backgrounds.
• 7.0.0 - Windows XP themed movable windows and message logger, settings that allow disabling crosscolors, changing background, and autojoin. Fixed bugs and optimized the backend. Added a new Reply & DM UI. Changed useredit UI to be a movable window. Added markleft which allows custom colors and fonts in messages/names. Auto-rejoin was fixed. Replaced some jokes with others. Seamus and Ronnie colors, niggerify, and polls removed. Frontend requires future optimization as it is known for being laggy at high numbers of members, especially on mobile, this is a target for 7.1.0 as an enhancement. Fune suggested replacing his own animation/sprite library "measels.js" with the more widely used "easel.js".

Demos

BonziWORLD started using "demos" for larger projects. A demo is a semi-functional version of BonziWORLD, where users are encouraged to find bugs for a short period of time (<2 hours), for the bugs to be fixed before development continues. Demos are indicated by a letter at the end of a version name, starting from A. A demo is equivalent to a minor update in terms of content.

• 7.0.0G - Semi-successful optimization attempt. Website usable, though lag spikes occur.
• 7.0.0F - Attempt at optimization (failed).
• 7.0.0E - Crosscolors and settings added, disclaimer/welcome window changed. Was a test release but failed due to lag at 15+ members.
• 7.0.0D - Window adjustments, muting, heavy mobile adjustments to make BonziWORLD mobile friendly.
• 7.0.0C - Markleft, Ability to cancel replies/DMs, Useredit menu window
• 7.0.0B - Kingmode, Blessing, Tags, Markup, Admin Menu
• 7.0.0A - Movable windows, announcements, message logger, message logger, DMs

Version 6.9

Version 6 changelogs never survived long, but some archives exist on webarchive and the code can be analysed to see what differences exist. Also an old version of bonzi.lol was on replit and was archived on doxbin. Using this information, some pieces of a full changelog can be scraped together. Most versions were still lost to time. Remember this is not a full changelog.

• 6.9.15 - A Discord webhook was added to keep track of messages sent in BonziWORLD in the Warsaw Discord server.
• 6.9.14 - The first user to join a private room (a.k.a. the room owner) automatically gets kingmode. Rainbow text option added. Rabbi likely added too.
• 6.9.13 - Blocked GIF Colors.
• 6.9.12 - New jokes and facts
• 6.9.10 - Yellow color; Custom colored messages; Tags
• 6.9.9 - Auto-rejoin added.
• 6.9.8 - Crosscolors were added.
• 6.9.7 - The windows 7 theme was added.
• 6.9.6 - Polls were added, the room "000" easter egg was added, and 6.9.x wasn't classified as "NEW" in the version text.
• New 6.9.4 - An android app was released, also BonziPEDIA was created around the same time. Added new colors! Peedy, clippy, retard, dress,
• 6.9 - Bonzi.lol's replit code right after the destruction of the old VPS (soon after destruction of bonzi.ga), nothing further back survived. It includes a rudimentary message logger and many features familiar on BonziWORLD like heiling and insulting. It was basically a shell of the modern BonziWORLD. It lacked kingmode, blessing, or most moderation features.
• Before - Bonzi.ga code followed the 6.9 version numbering, the versions weren't logged but would conflict with the newer version numbers. Numbering reset to 6.9 after the takedown of the first VPS.
