BonziWORLD Neo

BonziWORLD Neo was a plan/idea for a BonziWORLD server that was an attempt at renovating BonziWORLD (and to an extent, its community). Although the BW Neo concept has been killed and revived a couple times, it still lives on; most recently in the form of BonziWORLD XP.

Planned features

Here is a brief list of features that were talked about during the plans for the server.

• An alt/client limit.
• Reliance on user ID's rather than bare IP's.
• Overall interface changes, including: desktop icons, windows, "taskbar" (message bar) icons (possible shortcuts).
• An admin panel.
• A message log.
• A bot system/framework (?).

History

The BW Neo group was first created around January 2022 in order to discuss what the website should and should not have. There was also a lot of talks regarding the community and how it should (this was back in the days when BW was seen as a rotten shell of its former self), including talks of banning kiddies and skids. The lead for this project was JY, and the group included Fune, Ziggy, and Crypt.

Not many know this (aside from those who've throughly read the README), but the origin of bonziworld.org/bonzi.ga can be traced back to BW Neo. The first version of bonzi.ga was a port forwarded server made during the BW Neo times (likely as a prototype), that included only one feature: the client/alt limit.

As JY bipolarism began in early 2022, the BW Neo GC's have been deleted and BW Neo was mostly forgotten about. It would saw a come back from 2023 onwards with various prototypes/versions by JY, usually hosted on replits.
